Equality is philosophical core for RTO

“Hungry”, “Can-do attitude” and “Open to learning” are phrases continually weaving through a conversation between EQUALS International and Navitas.

Marie Chittleborough is Chief Operating Officer for EQUALS, a 25 year old, family owned South Australian business and she said the attributes shown by Navitas’ young professionals fit neatly into EQUALS’ company mission.

“Included in our mission statement is to ‘Empower individuals and organisations to realise their potential and maximise their capacity’,” Marie said.

“It is also ‘to recognise value and promote gender equality and cultural diversity and promote education as a means to achieve universal peace and unity’.”

In Adelaide, Perth-founded, ASX Top 100 Company Navitas provides soft-skills, post graduate courses to young professionals who want to develop themselves beyond a basic university degree prior to entering the workforce.

EQUALS have been supporting the Navitas programs since 2013, with four of its eight interns being employed at the completion of their internship.

“It’s their stand-out, personable, ‘can-do’ attitudes that appeal to us so much” Marie said, adding “they are also culturally diverse, and this helps them identify with our own students.”

As an internationally recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that delivers innovative vocational education solutions to Australian and international students, EQUALS’ holistic approach to vocational education requires a dedicated staff who are ‘open to learning’.

“A willingness to learn has been evident in each of the interns we’ve had, they are essentially hungry to start building their professional careers,” Marie continued.

“When people have the right attitude we can mould them to shape our business culture, vision and mission, but they have to start with the right fundamentals,” Marie concluded.
