ACAP Professional Year

ANNOUNCEMENT

After 14 years delivering quality education to more than 15,000 graduates, ACAP has announced that it will cease enrolments and teach out all current students in its ‘Professional Year Program (PYP)’.

The PYP is a work-readiness program designed for recently graduated international students from accounting, IT and engineering bachelor and master’s degrees in Australia. An initiative of the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs, it is administered by three accrediting bodies in the relevant professions, and its delivery is licensed or subcontracted to educational providers across Australia, including ACAP.

This decision has come after careful consideration and assessment of a range of relevant policy settings and the current economic environment. Combined with the effects of COVID, which severely impacted the long-term viability of this program, we have determined that it is no longer possible to sustain a high-quality product in this space. As such we are announcing our decision to close the program however affected students will be able to complete their program before the closure.

We continue to value the rationale and outcomes of the Professional Year Program, along with our relationships with the Department of Home Affairs, and the three professional bodies linked to this course: Accounting PYP; Australian Computer Society; and Engineers Australia. We would welcome the opportunity to work with the Department and our partners again in the future on a refreshed model that enabled us to offer and sustain an attractive quality product.

The ACAP Professional Year Program is delivered by Navitas Professional Training Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Navitas Pty Limited. This decision does not impact any of the other business units, division or joint ventures operated by Navitas.
